We invited to a Skype-Dance for the second time – this one was in Plus. Tomas “Doug” Machalik was the caller again. To put forward the Skype-Dance, exceptionally we had no topic this time.

Vroni called for us with new name, but with old qualities – for the second time. The dancers had voted for an ambitious workshop-topic – ½- and ¾-Calls. We had on square.

As on the day before, we repeated figures, but learned some new  as well. On both days we did Waltz, Two Step, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Tango, Mambo and Bolero.

The couple of cuers from Brno travelled already for the fifth time to Vienna, to do workshops. This time there was no new rhythm taught, but they repeated and consolidated rhythms, which we had done already before.

This dance was, to give the dancers some practice, before we had our next workshop-dances. Angela repeated some of the basic figures and cued some nice songs. As a result, there was offer for all of the dancers.

Four events with one caller on four consecutive days – this was a premiere at The WorkShoppers. Joachims fourth coup was on in Plus, as on the days before we had one square. Teacup Chain was the Workshop-topic.

After doing some C1-dances of this kind, we had a A2-day for the first time. The topics during the dance, which was more then six hours, were Peel and Trail/Trail off as well as Motivate-Variations.

Strictly speaking, we had more than one square on the floor, because the topic was Phantom. So, we had to “struggle with the ghosts” for four hours.

About one year, after he had called at „Frühlingserwachen“, Joachim Schmitt returned to Pinkfafeld. It was the all together fifth dance of “WorkShoppers on Tour”. It was a Mainstream-Dance, the topic was Grand Square.

22. Mai 2016   INGEBORGS VITAMIN C- INGEBORG KÖRBER-LÜCKER (GER)

Ingeborg Körber-Lücker called another C1-Workshop for us, so she did so far in any half year of the club’s existence. „All kinds of Recycle“ was the topic, chosen by the dancers. There are many of Recycles from Mainstream to C1 – so five hours were just the right length to teach it.

The successor for the early deceased Kenny Reese at some clubs in and around Frankfurt was on his way to the Slovakian Convention in Bratislava, when he did a workshop in Spin Chain And Exchange The Gears. Of course he taught the new definition. Two squares were dancing at this Plus-Workshop. One of the guests was Reinhardt Gojowsky, board-member of the EAASDC.

Our third C1-Day was about Triple Formations and Modifiers as Replace or Interrupt – 2,5 hours each topic. Additionally there were some variations of Stretch. The day was finalized by a session „Review and Relax“.

The fourth dance of „WorkShoppers on Tour“ was the second in Styria, this time at the Turmwirt in Mürzhofen. 39 dancers attended, which was the second-best visited event, best was the Three-Kings-Dance in January 2015. The Workshop-Topic was Cast off ¾, ½, ¼.

Doing his first visit to Austria in his 46-year-long career as caller, John – only a few hours after he had arrived from USA – did a fine job. The workshop-topic was Turn and Deal, two squares were dancing.

A few days after the traditional dance-week in Cham in Bavaria, two of the dances taught there were on our programme. On the one hand it was a Waltz, on the other hand a mix of Foxtrott and Jive – both phase IV.

At the end of Jerry’s trip to Austria he called an evening in A2. The Workshop-Topic was Mini Busy. Almost three squares did not want to miss that.

This dance was the start of a five-days-trip of Jerry Jestin to Austria, immediately after he had called at the Square- and Round-Week in Cham/Bavaria. Besides his high-quality-calling, he convinced with his well-known relaxing and humorous behavior. The Workshop-Topic was Relay The Deucey.

Sona Duskova and Petr came from Brno to Vienna already for the forth time, to cue for The WorkShoppers. The main-topic of the four-hour-session was an Intro to Bolero. Furthermore, elements and dances of all our other workshops with the Czech couple were repeated.

More than one square took part in the second C2 of The WorkShoppers. Main-Topic was the Stagger-Concept, but Parallelogram, which was second in the request, was pushed as well. All dancers agreed, that Martin did a great job, as his explanations were quite understandable.

Again more than two squares did not want to miss the third dance with Martin Laufer. All 4 couples / All 8 was a topic, which is a classical one in this level. Martin succeeded in explaining the difficult Adjust in a manner, so that many of the dancers finally got it.

We had a whole day, to deal with C1.  Martin concentrated on the topics Magic Column, Plenty and Stretch. He had to call for seven and a half hours and did this in high quality till the end. We again had more than two squares, which were tired in the evening, but happy, to have learned a lot.

At the first dance with Martin Laufer during his nine-days-stay in Austria, we had an enjoyable attendance of more than two squares. Maybe this is to lead back as well to the workshop-topic Zoom. Martin immediately started to call at a high level. Furthermore, three new club-members got their WorkShoppers-Badges.

14. FEBRUAR 2016   VALENTINSTANZ – A1 – VLADIMIR ANDRIS (CZE)
14 dancers attended this event on Valentine’s Day, 9 of them females. All of them got a rose at the end of the dance of three hours. Of course, the workshop-topic has to be mentioned. Vladimir Andris dealed with Transfer The Column, after dancers made a clear decision about that. And there was a little bit of workshopping Turn and Deal, which came second in the survey.

Dancers had chosen the topic Triple Formations. It was on the programme already for the second time, no less than Sandie Bryant had dealed with it on the 30th of April 2015. This time, Vladimir Andris made us remember, how many facets this element has to offer.

A premiere at The WorkShoppers, for the first time a workshop in C2. The topic, Vlada had chosen, was Cross Concentric. Ten dancers took part. If possible, there should be more C2-workshops to come – to consolidate this level, not danced very often.

About 15 hours after the first part of this Round-weekend, Sona and Petr did part two. On the one hand they taught again Cha Cha Cha as well as Rumba On the other hand eleven dance-couples dealed with Tango – figures already learned in autumn were repeated, others wer newly taught.

The couple from the Czech Republic did already it’s third cueing at The WorkShoppers. Nine dance-couples took this chance. Sona and Petr put an emphasis on Cha Cha Cha. „Mariella“ even was a Phase-V-dance, which was taught successfully.

At the end of almost one week in Austria, Ulrich „Obi“ Brandt from Northern Germany called in his favoured level A2. „Mainstream- and Plus-Figures in A-Concepts“ was the topic, he had chosen. It was a motto, which was accepted by the dancers very well.

Our third „WorkShoppers on tour“-Dance took place in Stainz in Styria, dance-place of the club STS². We danced with four squares – almost all dancers from STS² and Austyrias. Ulrich „Obi“ Brandt called the workshop-topic „Directionals“ – the instructions of the Caller between the calls.

2.  JÄNNER 2016      NEW YEAR’S DANCE – TOMAS „DOUG“ MACHALIK
This was Austria’s first square-dance-event of this year, and the forth time, Tomas “Doug” Machalik was calling for The WorkShoppers. “Explode” was the topic for the Plus-Workshop. 25 dancers attended this dance, so three squares were dancing continuously. It was a wonderful start of the new dance-year.
